February 10, 2008 - Texoma - Submitted by Southern Oklahoma Guides - The picture is of Steve Frederick of Wichita, KS. We went on our first long-lining trip of the season today and pulled several nice fish. We did the best on ledges adjacent to deep water. The fish do not seem to be on our flats where we traditionally like to long-line. Of course, this is relatively early in the season and the water temperature is still only 47 degrees. Look for the fishing to really improve as the water temperature climbs into the lower fifties during the next few weeks. We were using deep-diving thundersticks running in 20-25 feet of water. Live shad is also producing a mixture of stripers and white bass.

January 1, 2008 - Kaw - Submitted by Mike Cook - Four Lake Guides - New Years Day at Kaw reservoir. Wellllllllll, it started real good, once I chiseled the ice from my drain hole for the boat and lubed the steering shaft with w-d-40 cause the grease was so stiff.

The wind was up too much for me to anchor at the first spot I wanted to fish. Pulling those cold wet icy anchor ropes in was, well should have hired a guide. The second spot I caught 6 nice crappie before the wind blew me off the brush pile that was in 25 foot of water. The third spot produced no fish. The fourth spot, despite the cold water I decided to set out 3 anchors in hopes of holding me over the brush pile without getting blown off. It worked but I still had to contend with the boat moving a lot more than I wanted it to and the crappie rods having an east west bend in them like they had 8 ounce sinkers on them. I caught several more nice crappie under these less than ideal conditions before crying uncle.

Also in attendance sailing the currents overhead at Sarge Creek were three mature bald eagles that were beautiful to observe on the blustery day. So all in all and to put it in a nutshell and all that. IT WAS COLD AND WINDY! See ya soon.

November 25, 2007 - Texoma - Submitted by Southern Oklahoma Guides - Fall fishing is really starting to pick up with the cooler temperatures we have had the past couple of weeks. Fish can be found at various depths of water. One day in particular I was on fish in 10 feet of water early and finished up later in the morning on fish in the river channel (75 feet). Typically, everyone is chasing the birds, but, it seems I do better when I can stay away from all the boats. Fish are being caught using various techniques. Down-riggers pulling double jig rigs, slabs, sassy shad and live shad are all producing fish. I expect the fishing to only improve through New Years depending on the weather.

July 20, 2007 - Skiatook - Submitted by Watkins Guide Service - Finally after a few slower trips the wind kicks it up and the fish where on fire. On the water at 3 and out of 120 shad by 6, we boated 50+ wipers 15 of those where 5-8 lbs. We also caught smallmouth, cats, and a good walleye. Come get some!!

June 27, 2007 - Texoma - Submitted by Southern Oklahoma Guides -The lake is five feet above normal and rising. Be very careful about floating debris in the lake. The fishing is still very good with limits coming fairly early in the morning. Fish quality is good with many keepers in the 18-19 inch range and numerous fish from 20 to 26 inches. Fish are being caught on live shad at various depths of water. We will find fish one day in 20 feet of water or less and the next day in seventy feet of water. Expect to find muddy conditions on the Washita and Red River Arms of the Lake. Concentrate your activity on the lower end of the Lake where you will find clear water.

June 22, 2007 - Skiatook - Submitted by Watkins Guide Service - Fishing has been excellent. Limits are being filled easily. Pictures speak louder than words!!

June 14, 2007 - Skiatook - Submitted by Watkins Guide Service - - Fishing has been excellent. Last 7 trips has produced over 400 wipers. May 11, 2007 - Texoma - Submitted by Southern Oklahoma Guides - The lake is three feet above normal and the water temperature is in the upper 60's. Striper fishing is excellent on live shad. Some topwater activity is occurring early in the morning on the banks where the threadfin shad are starting to spawn. Down-riggers have been producing fish also.

April 28-29, 2007 - Grand Lake - Heartland Elite and BFT - Submitted by Curt Graves

With no time to practice due to work, I was planning to rely on a
similar pattern as LOZ. However, an open mind and some history played
key to some success this weekend. The first couple of hours were
fruitless with only a couple of small bites and no fish. Thinking about
Grand lake and past successes, I switched to a home-made
black-blue-purple jig with a Zoom blueberry lil, craw trailer.
Fishing where most anglers wouldn,t on docks, I was able to catch a
limit weighing 14.82 # to finish 11th and earn some money.
Unfortunately, I did lose a good 3# fish over a dock cable that would
have culled a smaller 14 fish costing me some additional money. 20#
fluorocarbon and a 6,10 Heavy action Quantum rod were critical in
fighting fish out from under and around the docks.

On Sunday, dad and I used the same pattern to catch an 11# limit to
finish just out of the money. I think this pattern of fishing was
dwindling and the fish will soon be moving to the points for a football
jig, crankbait, and C-rig bite. If the water gets cleaner, a topwater
bite could really be strong in the next couple of weeks.

April 2, 2007 - Miami below dam - Went down beneath the dam at Miami, OK to do a little spoonbill snagging. Conditions were perfect. River was up and running and there were hundreds of people lined along the banks casting and jerking. I saw several fish caught the biggest one I caught was 31 lbs. Here is a picture of that fish. The river is swift so if you plan on going be careful and watch where you are slinging you heavy sinkers. Good luck and good fishing!

March 19, 2007 - Sooner - Submitted by Mark Kirkpatrick -It was a windy (30 mph) weekend at Sooner lake Oklahoma, I fished the hot water discharge with a Carolina Rig Classic Destiny rod, 15 LB Vicious line, and 4" watermelon red Snack Daddy split stick. I only managed to pull three keepers, along with a mess load of shorts. In all 9th place was my finish. Sorry for the funny face in the picture; the sun was in my eyes.

March 17, 2007 - Texoma - Submitted by Southern Oklahoma Guides - Striper fishing is good to excellent on live shad and artificial lures. We are catching fish long-lining using deep diving thundersitcks and redfins. Sassy shads are also producing fish. The black bass are starting to move to the shallows. A lot of males are already on the bank and with the warm weather we are having the big females will not be far behind. Water temperature is 55 and the lake elevation is close to normal

January 1, 2007 - Texoma - Submitted by Southern Oklahoma Guides - Striper fishing is excellent on live shad and sassy shad. We are chasing the gulls and having great success in terms of numbers and quality. Our last trip produced a limit with fish up to ten pounds. Catfishing should pick up this month. We will keep you posted.
