MOREHEAD WINS EVERSTART SERIES EVENT ON LAKE OF THE OZARKS

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (April 23, 2005) Evinrude pro Dan Morehead of Paducah, Ky., caught a two-day total of 10 bass weighing 33 pounds, 2 ounces to win the EverStart Series Central Division event on Lake of the Ozarks near Osage Beach. He was awarded a fully rigged Ranger 519 VX powered by an Evinrude outboard and equipped with a Minn Kota trolling motor, Garmin electronics and Everstart Batteries plus $10,000 cash. Troy Eakins of Nixa won an additional $1500 for being the highest-finishing Ranger Cup participant as well as an additional $750 for meeting the Powered by Yamaha requirements.

"I had been sight fishing the first three days of the tournament, Morehead said. He anticipated, after leaving the FLW Tour Wal-Mart Open on nearby Beaver Lake last week, that this tournament would be won sight fishing. On day three, however, he caught a good keeper on a spinnerbait at the end of the day in the Grand Glaize area. "I,d been catching bass all week on a white Mann,s lizard and a white Mann,s tube in another part of the lake, but that spinnerbait fish lead me to change areas.

Morehead started in Grand Glaize on Saturday but found the fish wouldn,t chase his spinnerbait anymore. After the cold front moved through, the temperatures on Saturday morning were in the low 30s. "I started throwing a green pumpkin FLW finesse jig made by Mann,s this morning, and by 8:30, I already had 18 pounds, he said. "I probably caught 13 keepers Saturday and culled a few times to get to the 19 pounds, 15 ounces I weighed.

Rounding out the top-five pros are Troy Eakins of Nixa (10 bass, 29 pounds, 4 ounces); Danny Burns of Ozark (eight bass, 25 pounds, 13 ounces); Dave Donham of Highlandville (10 bass, 25 pounds, 4 ounces); and Paul Tormanen of Lees Summit (nine bass, 19 pounds, 1 ounce).

Tom Medlock of Licking caught a two-day total of seven bass weighing 19 pounds, 13 ounces to win the Co-Angler Division and earn $5,000.

"I was throwing a Texas-rigged Zoom Trick Worm with a 1/8-ounce sinker along with a Zoom Brush Hog, Medlock said. "The key was you had to work it slowly and let it just sit on the bottom for a long time to get a bite.

Rounding out the top-five co-anglers are Mark Taylor of Mansfield (six bass, 14 pounds, 7 ounces); Jim McDevitt of Eldon (five bass, 10 pounds, 13 ounces); Mark King of Gurdon, Ark. (four bass, 8 pounds); and Brett Pinion of Webb City (one bass, 6 pounds, 1 ounce).

EverStart Series tournaments are four-day events consisting of two rounds. The entire field competes Wednesday and Thursday, and the top 10 pros and co-anglers based on two-day accumulated weights advance to the final round. Anglers start at zero Friday, and pro and co-angler winners are determined Saturday based on two-day accumulated weights.

BURNS LEADS FINAL ROUND OF EVERSTART SERIES EVENT ON LAKE OF THE OZARKS

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (April 22, 2005) Pro Danny Burns of Ozark caught
five bass weighing 17 pounds, 7 ounces to lead the final round of the
EverStart Series Central Division event on Lake of the Ozarks presented by
Garmin. Ten pros are competing for a top award of as much as $50,000 in
cash and prizes including a fully rigged Ranger 519 VX powered by a
Yamaha or Evinrude outboard and equipped with a Minn Kota trolling motor,
Garmin electronics and EverStart Batteries.

The weather took a turn for the worse on Friday, when a cold front
blew into the area. Heavy winds and cooler temperatures slowed the
fishing and shuffled the leader board. As is usually the case, however, a
few anglers continued to catch quality bass under changing conditions.

"I'm making a 60-mile run up the river," Burns said. "Everyone else
has been fishing clear water, but my area has been stained or muddy. I
couldn't see the bass, but I knew they were spawning in these three
pockets because of how they swim off with the bait. On Friday, after the
heavy rains and wind, everyone else's water got muddier, but mine was
actually clearer. I actually caught three of my bass sight fishing."

Burns was unsure about his first stop up river after he saw another
boat fishing his productive spot. After the other boat said they were
fishing a tournament this weekend, Burns explained that he was in the
top 10 in an EverStart event. The other anglers explained they were
preparing for a crappie tournament and invited him into the cove. Almost
immediately Burns caught a 5-pound largemouth to start his day.

Rounding out the top-five pros are Troy Eakins of Nixa (five bass,
13 pounds, 9 ounces); Stratos pro Dan Morehead of Paducah, Ky. (five
bass, 13 pounds, 3 ounces); Eric Ambort of Mabelvale, Ark. (five bass, 11
pounds, 9 ounces); and Dave Donham of Highlandville (five bass, 11
pounds, 3 ounces).

Mark Taylor of Mansfield more than doubled the catch of his nearest
competitor when he caught five bass weighing 12 pounds, 5 ounces to
lead the final round of the Co-Angler Division.

"I'm still doing the same thing I've been doing all tournament,"
Taylor said. He is throwing a Texas-rigged Zoom Brush Hog to catch
largemouths. "I had a few small Kentuckies this morning on a jerkbait, but I
went back to the Brush Hog and culled them with largemouths." He caught
the only five-bass limit on Friday in the Co-angler Division and is
more than 6 pounds ahead of his nearest competitor.

Rounding out the top-five co-anglers are Brett Pinion of Webb City
(one bass, 6 pounds, 1 ounce); Tom Medlock of Licking (two bass, 5
pounds, 6 ounces); Jim Mcdevitt of Eldon (two bass, 5 pounds, 4 ounces);
and Mark King of Gurdon, Ark. (two bass, 3 pounds, 3 ounces).

EverStart Series tournaments are four-day events consisting of two
rounds. The entire field competes Wednesday and Thursday, and the top
10 pros and co-anglers based on two-day accumulated weights advance
to the final round. Anglers start at zero Friday, and pro and co-angler
winners are determined Saturday based on two-day accumulated weights.

DONHAM LEADS OPENING ROUND OF EVERSTART SERIES EVENT ON LAKE OF THE OZARKS

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (April 21, 2005) Pro Dave Donham of Highlandville
caught a two-day total of 10 bass weighing 38 pounds, 2 ounces to lead
the opening round of the EverStart Series Central Division event on Lake
of the Ozarks presented by Garmin. While several impressive limits were
caught the first two days, very few were more impressive than the two
daily limits Donham caught of 20 pounds, 12 ounces and 17 pounds, 6
ounces respectively.

"I'm just fishing main lake points," Donham said. "I fished a
different arm of the lake today. I'm just resting one area and going to
another each day. It seems to be working so far."

Donham was reluctant to divulge the lure he's using this early in
the tournament but likes his chances in the final round. "I feel pretty
confident I can catch them tomorrow," he said.

Rounding out the top-five pros are Gene Brown of West Point, Miss.
(10 bass, 36 pounds, 12 ounces); Paul Tormanen of Lees Summit (10 bass,
35 pounds, 2 ounces); Troy Eakins of Nixa (10 bass, 35 pounds, 2
ounces); and Eric Ambort of Mabelvale, Ark. (10 bass, 34 pounds, 15 ounces).

Mark Taylor of Mansfield caught a two-day total of seven bass
weighing 24 pounds, 7 ounces to lead the Co-angler Division.

"I'm throwing a Texas-rigged Zoom Brush Hog," Taylor said. "I'm
fishing behind sight fishermen and just trying to pick up what they leave
behind. Most of my bites are coming 1- to 7-feet deep."

Rounding out the top-five co-anglers are Mark Guin of Crossett, Ark.
(10 bass, 23 pounds, 1 ounce); Jim McDevitt of Eldon (eight bass, 22
pounds); Tom Medlock of Licking (eight bass, 21 pounds, 1 ounce); and
Brett Pinion of Webb City (nine bass, 19 pounds, 11 ounces).

Brown caught a 6-pound, 12-ounce largemouth to win the $725 Snickers
Big Bass Award in the Pro Division while Anton Silvester of Benld,
Ill., caught a 6-pound, 3-ounce largemouth to win $245 for big bass in the
Co-angler Division.

Anglers caught 819 bass weighing 2,124 pounds.

JEANE LEADS EVERSTART SERIES EVENT ON LAKE OF THE OZARKS

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (April 20, 2005) Pro George Jeane Jr. of Evans, La., caught five bass weighing 21 pounds, 1 ounce to lead day one of the EverStart Series Central Division event on Lake of the Ozarks. A field of 199 pros is competing for the top prize of a Ranger 519 VX powered by a Yamaha or Evinrude outboard, Minn Kota trolling motor, Garmin electronics and EverStart Batteries plus $10,000 cash.

Tournament anglers were greeted with beautiful weather conditions Wednesday, and the fishing was described as fantastic. Temperatures climbed into the 80s under mostly sunny skies and anglers found lots of 3- to 4-pound bass willing to bite a variety of baits as they staged on points and began guarding beds. Sight fishermen enjoyed accommodating conditions, but a pros fishing for staging bass found themselves in the driver,s seat on Wednesday.

"I caught one bass off a bed Wednesday, Jeane said, "but I,m fishing for staging largemouths 12- to 18-feet deep.

Jeane is throwing his own creation a Jeane Tackle Jig in black and blue around main-lake points and secondary points in the mid-lake area.

Thursday,s forecast is calling for overcast conditions and rain. While this will undoubtedly make sight fishing more difficult, Jeane was happy when he heard the forecast. "The rain and cloudy skies will help me a lot, he said.

Rounding out the top-five pros are Lloyd Pickett Jr. of Bartlett, Tenn. (five bass, 20 pounds, 13 ounces); Dave Donham of Highlandville (five bass, 20 pounds, 12 ounces); Paul Tormanen of Lees Summit (five bass, 19 pounds, 9 ounces); and Steve Ruff of Wentzville (five bass, 18 pounds, 14 ounces).

Mark Taylor of Mansfield caught five bass weighing 17 pounds, 4 ounces to lead the Co-angler Division.

Rounding out the top-five co-anglers are Ron Seabaugh of Barnhart (five bass, 15 pounds, 2 ounces); Mark Guin of Crossett, Ark. (four bass, 12 pounds, 2 ounces); Shane Patterson of Alexander City, Ala. (three bass, 11 pounds, 9 ounces); and Dan Booth of Muskegon, Mich. (four bass, 11 pounds, 8 ounces).

David Seaton of Buchanan, Tenn., caught a 6-pound, 4-ounce largemouth to win the $725 Snickers Big Bass Award in the Pro Division while Robert Bogard Jr. of Conway, Ark., caught a 6-pound, 8-ounce bass to win $245 for big bass in the Co-angler Division.

Anglers caught 869 bass weighing 2,374 pounds, 1 ounce.

$6.24 MILLION EVERSTART SERIES TO VISIT LAKE OF THE OZARKS

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (April 6, 2005) The $6.24 million EverStart Series is headed to Lake of the Ozarks April 20-23 for the Central Division,s third stop of the season with a $262,125 tournament featuring 400 anglers from 18 states.

Anglers competing in the Pro Division will fish for a top award worth as much as $60,000, while co-angler competitors cast for a top award worth as much as $35,000. Competitors will also be vying for valuable points that could earn them a berth into the $1 million EverStart Series Championship in Florence, Ala., Nov. 2-5 for a shot at $140,000 in the Pro Division and $70,000 in the Co-angler Division.

A sprawling highland reservoir, Lake of the Ozarks offers anglers opportunities for largemouths and smallmouths, but one of the more sought-after fish is the spotted bass. Anglers will find the fish ready to feed in a prespawn mode. Bass will be moving to spawning areas, and all reports indicate this event will be a real shootout.

"They couldn,t have picked a better time to come to the lake, said Jim Eakins of Nixa, Mo. "Last weekend it took more than 35 pounds to win a two-day tournament and it,s early yet on the lake. Eakins said the water level is about 5 feet below pool right now, but it won,t be as much of a concern as the very heavy boat traffic on the final two days. "The boat traffic on this lake can be unbelievable on the weekends.

Bass will be caught on a variety of tactics including flipping jigs, throwing spinnerbaits and bumping crankbaits along rocky banks. "There are a lot of bass from 4 to 6 pounds in the lake, Eakins said. "In fact, 9 pounds, 6 ounces took big bass in the tournament last weekend, and there were several spotted bass that weighed 5 pounds. Eakins thinks it will take 36 to 38 pounds to make the cut and another 36 pounds to win. "When the bass on this lake move up in the spring, they move up by the thousands.

Anglers will take off from PB II Grand Glaize Beach; Rec Area of Lake of the Ozarks at 6:30 each morning. Wednesday and Thursday,s weigh-ins will also be held at the PB II, which is located in Osage Beach, beginning at 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday,s weigh-ins will be held at the Wal-Mart store located at 4252 Hwy. 54 in Osage Beach beginning at 4 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

Two hundred pros and 200 co-anglers will compete for two days to determine the top 10 pros and top 10 co-anglers who advance to the final round based on their two-day accumulated weight. Weights are cleared for the final round, and anglers compete for two more days to determine the winner. Winners are determined by the heaviest accumulated weight from days three and four.

The winning pro earns an Evinrude- or Yamaha-powered Ranger 519 VX equipped with Garmin electronics, a Minn Kota trolling motor and EverStart batteries plus $10,000 cash. If the winner is the original owner of a Ranger boat that is used during the tournament, the winner also receives a $10,000 bonus from Ranger for a top pro award of $60,000. If the winning pro is a Ranger Cup participant, Ranger will award another $3,000 cash (or $1,500 to the highest-finishing Ranger Cup participant if not the winner), and Yamaha will match 50 percent of Ranger Cup winnings if the angler,s boat is powered by a Yamaha outboard. Garmin will award the winning pro $1,000 if he uses only Garmin electronics and at least one unit is a qualifying unit, thus boosting potential winnings for the top pro to $65,500.

The winning co-angler receives $5,000 cash, and if the winner is a Ranger boat owner, Ranger will award a new Ranger 519 VX for a total prize package worth $35,000. Co-anglers who make the final round of each regular-season EverStart Series event and wear an EverStart/Evinrude shirt and cap on stage are also awarded points toward the EverStart Batteries and Evinrude Outboard Engines Co-angler Award. The co-angler receiving the most points by the end of the season receives an Evinrude 225HO Direct Injection outboard engine rigged on a Ranger boat equipped with a Minn Kota trolling motor and EverStart batteries.

In EverStart Series competition pros supply the boats, fish from the front deck against other pros and control boat movement. Co-anglers fish from the back deck and compete against other co-anglers. Every angler who receives weight credit in a tournament earns points that determine angler standings. Two hundred points are awarded to the winner, 199 points for second, 198 points for third, and so on. The top 40 pros and top 40 co-anglers from each of the EverStart Series, five divisions Central, Northeast, Northern, Southeast and Western will advance to the $1 million EverStart Series Championship on Pickwick Lake Nov. 2-5. The top 10 pros and top 10 co-anglers from each division also qualify for the Wal-Mart FLW Tour, the world,s most lucrative tournament series, where they can compete for a share of $7.6 million in 2006.

Each EverStart Series Division features four regular-season tournaments.
