Last Updated: 12/11/2020

Species Rating Size Baits, Method & Location
Zebra Mussels

Adult Zebra Mussels were found 7/31/08 at Lake Afton.

The zebra mussels reproduce during the warmer summer months and veligers (larval zebra mussels) are present in the water column. Zebra mussel veligers are too small to be seen with the unaided eye and they can be found in boat livewells, minnow buckets, boat bilges, water toys and anything else that is capable of holding even a small amount of water.

Be sure to drain all equipment before leaving the lake to avoid moving veligers to other waters. THIS INCLUDES MINNOW BUCKETS, BOAT LIVEWELLS AND BILGES!!!

Click HERE to learn how to prevent the spread of zebra mussels.

REMEMBER!! Zebra Mussels are also present in Clearwater Creek below the spillway!

White Perch Poor to Fair 5"-8" Use a small hook with a small piece of worm, or a small spinning lure. Remember that white perch may not be possessed or transported alive.

WICHITA EMERY PARK - Wichita Area Bait & Tackle -

August 25, 2012 -Emery Park Wichita - Went to Emery Park on 8/23/12 and took my girlfriend around 8:00a.m. and finished the day with 11 largemouth bass total. I usually like to try to show up an hour or two earlier but the top water was still good me. All were arounda pound or two but healthy and a blast to catch. A texas-rigged worm(3"-6") was great also. I like this place and is close to my home and feel this page needs more largemouth reports. Wichita needs more largemouth bass period! LETS PRACTICE CATCH-AND-RELEASE TOO, IT WON'T KILL YOU, PLEASE!!! Ended the day around 12:00p.m., was decent and fun, then again it always is! WHAT'S WITH ALL THE TRASH!? Makes me sick, but plan to try to help alittle and spend a few hours out there with some large trash bags and pick it up some, mainly by the shore and the south end. Name is Xzavier B.

WICHITA CRUISER LAKE - Wichita Area Bait & Tackle -

You might note in your report for Wichita Cruiser Lake that the directions on the KDWP website are obsolete - you can no longer access the lake from 21st Street, and may be charged with trespassing if you try (even though the signs won't tell you that).  Take Hillside and turn west on the first street south of K-96, past the new animal shelter - this will run you right into the parking lot for Cruiser Lake.
