BASSMASTER Top 150 Tournament Trail

March 28-31 Rogersville/Athens, Ala. Lake Wheeler MegaBucks
May 8-13 Sevierville, Tenn. Douglas Lake

Kansan Brent Chapman finishes in 26th
Rojas on a roll, captures Louisiana Top 150
Omori, Matsubu finish second and third at Toledo Bend

MANY, La. (February 25, 2001) Dean Rojas of Lake Havasu City, Az. is
experiencing one of those dreams that produces at least a 4 pound bass on
just about every bite.

"I can't explain it I'm just making all the right moves now," said
Rojas, who captured the Louisiana BASSMASTER Top 150 on Toledo Bend
Reservoir Sunday for his second consecutive victory. "It's like a dream
that keeps producing big bass."

Rojas, who won with a record-setting catch at Kissimmee, Fla.'s Lake
Toho last month, sacked 21 pounds, 2 ounces in the finals to compile 55
pounds, 8 ounces and leap from third to first. He won $110,000 including a
Mercury powered Ranger bass boat, bringing his two-month earnings to
$220,000.

Takahiro Omori of Emory, Tex. was second with 54 pounds, 6 ounces to win
$48,000 that included a Ranger/Mercury bass rig while Ben Matsubu of
Mineola, Tex. was third with 53 pounds, 13 ounces to earn a Ranger/Mercury
rig and $5,000 cash. Larry Nixon of Bee Branch, Ark. was fourth with 49
pounds and Terry Baksay of Monroe, Ct. fifth with 46-8.

It was a long week for the Top 150 pros, who saw the first day cancelled
due to fog and Saturday's championship finals postponed until Sunday
because of high winds.

Perhaps that delay was enough to sour fishing for day 3 leader Ben
Matsubu, who Rojas had picked to win earlier in the week. Matsubu, who had
more than a five-pound lead going into the final round, caught only 14
pounds on Sunday.

"The fish moved and I had to change patterns late in the day," said
Matsubu, who was drop-shotting Yamamoto finesse worms in 20 to 25 feet of
water. "I switched areas and began catching them shallow near the end of
the day but ran out of time."

Time seemed to be on Rojas' side. As the sun popped out and warmed the
shallow bushes he was fishing, bedding bass became easier to see and he
began picking them off. Although he caught one five-pounder on a slow-rolled Hawg Caller spinnerbait Sunday morning, most of his fish were fooled on a Lake Fork Tackle black/neon Tube jig.

"I pitched it onto the beds and the fish just swam off with it," said
Rojas. "It was pretty easy."

Omori, who was in fourth going into Sunday, caught his bass on an orange
Zoom Trick Worm and white T.O. Tube around cypress trees and bushes. Nixon
relied on a chrome Strike King Diamond Shad lipless crankbait and black
Berkley Lizard while Baksay caught his fish on bubble gum-colored
Terminator Spinnerbait, chrome Rogue and Husky Jerk jerkbaits.

In BASSMASTER CastingKids competition held Sunday at Cypress Bend Park,
13-year-old Wesley Thomas of Converse, La. won his division after an
eight-round cast-off.

Also, 7-year-old Zachery Hebert of Opelousas, La. won his division. The
competition was sponsored by the Leesville Bassmasters of the Louisiana
B.A.S.S. Federation with help from the youth director and staff.

During a special presentation during the weigh-in ceremonies, Lake Fork
Taxidermy from nearby Emory, Tex. awarded Rojas with a fiberglass replica
mount of the 45-pound, 2-ounce record breaking limit he caught during the
Florida BASSMASTER Top 150 event held on Lake Toho in Kissimmee, Fla. last
month.

Five bass of the same proportions and sizes are displayed on driftwood
and a natural habitat scene. The catch included two bass over 10 pounds and
the smallest weighed more than 7 pounds.

"This is a big surprise and a great honor," said Rojas. "But what makes
it even more special is that it's a replica mount and none of those fish I
caught had to die for the sake of a beautiful display. That's what
catch-and-release fishing is all about and what B.A.S.S. stands for."

Lake Fork Taxidermy, which also does the replica bass for the Budweiser
Share Lunker Program through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department,
specializes in reproductions. It took more than 40 hours to produce the life-like mount for Rojas.

The Louisiana BASSMASTER Top 150 was the fifth of seven events on the
BASSMASTER Top 150 Trail this season. In addition to the prize money,
anglers earned valuable points that will help them qualify for next summer's BASS Masters Classic. The top 25 anglers in the season's points standings will qualify
to fish in bass fishing's premier event.

Variety to be the Key at
BASSMASTER Top 150 on Toledo Bend

MANY, La. - (February 1, 2001) "Whatever technique a guy likes to use to
catch fish, he can find success at Toledo Bend," explained B.A.S.S. pro
Harold Allen. Two Kansas anglers will be trying their techniques when the tournament opens Feb. 21. Brent Chapman of Shawnee will be fishing the pro side of the event while Tadjen Peterson of Olathe will try his skills on the amature side.

Toledo Bend Reservoir will offer anglers an opportunity to utilize various
techniques, in stark contrast to last month's event on Lake Toho
(Kissimmee, Fla.) where the sight fishing pattern dominated and allowed
champion Dean Rojas to bring in 108 pounds, 12 ounces, shattering the
B.A.S.S. record for a four-day tournament.

Anglers competing in the Louisiana BASSMASTER Top 150, February 21-25 can
look forward to finding success with as many as six different patterns
while fishing on the reservoir.

"Rat-L-Traps, spinnerbaits, jerk baits, jigs and plastics will all work,"
said Allen. In the upper parts of the fishery, guys might find fish in the
bushes, on main lake points or in the creeks. Pretty much every way you can
fish, you'll be able to catch them."

The pros and their amateur partners in the event will be chasing an overall
purse of $431,450. The winning pro will take home $110,000, and the winning
amateur will claim $27,000. Additionally, the pros in the event will be
competing for points to qualify for the BASS Masters Classic, to be held
this summer in New Orleans.

"The big thing about Toledo Bend is that it will take a lot of consistent
stringers," said Allen. "It is a terrific fishery, and not one where you
have to be there at the right time with the right technique in order to
win."

Allen, who lives on the reservoir, doesn't think large bass will be the key.

"It will be a case where it is not how many fish you catch, but how many
3-pound and larger fish you catch. However, at a lot of lakes, you need to
catch a big bass to have a chance at winning. Here if you have around 20
pounds a day, with a couple of 4-pounders, you have a good chance."

This fishery does offer the chance for a spawn. The bass on the lake
normally spawn by this time, however, they have not, which leaves the door
open for anglers to have a chance at large limits, like Lake Toho provided.

"One thing about Toledo Bend is that it is such a large body of water, the
bass spawn at different times at different parts," explained Allen.
"Because of this it is possible that fish will be spawning during the time
that we are there.

Daily weigh-ins for the Louisiana BASSMASTER Top 150 will be held at
Cypress Bend Park in Many, La., beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Anglers will launch from Cypress Bend Park daily, beginning at 6:45 a.m.

Additionally, a free CastingKids event, sponsored by Chevy Trucks and
Zebco, will be held there on Saturday, February 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30
p.m. This fun-filled national program, designed by B.A.S.S. CEO Helen
Sevier, encourages children to perfect the skills of casting, pitching and
flipping. Local B.A.S.S. clubs conduct the events and provide instruction
to all youngsters.

The Louisiana BASSMASTER Top 150 is the fifth of seven events on the
BASSMASTER Top 150 Trail this season. The winning pro will take home
$110,000, and the winning amateur, $27,000, out of the overall $431,450
purse. In addition to the prize money, anglers will be vying to earn
valuable points that will help them qualify for next summer's BASS Masters
Classic. The top 25 anglers in the season's points standings will qualify
to fish in the "Super Bowl" of bass fishing.

By sanctioning over 20,000 tournaments worldwide, The Bass Anglers
Sportsman Society is the world's largest fishing organization. The
BASSMASTER Tournament Trail is the oldest and most prestigious pro bass
fishing tournament circuit. It continues to set the standard for
credibility, professionalism, and sportsmanship after more than three
decades.

Sponsors of the 2001 BASSMASTER Tournament Trail include: Ranger Boats,
