Oklahoma's Darrell Robertson Nets Bass
Angling's Biggest Cash, $250,000 in Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship

WAGONER, Okla.--(BW SportsWire)--Sept. 25, 1999--Darrell
Robertson of Jay, Oklahoma, boated a 14 pound, 6 ounce limit of bass
in the final round of the Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship on Ft. Gibson
Lake to take first place and capture the largest cash prize in bass
fishing history - $250,000. The event featured a $450,000 total
purse.Robertson survived three rounds of elimination competition, over
four days, against 49 of the world's top professional bass anglers en
route to the Wal-Mart FLW Tour victory. He caught his winning stringer
using various baits, including buzz baits, a RattlinSpot, and a Brush
Hawg. He concentrated his efforts around submerged brush piles,
fishing 5 miles from the Highway 51 bridge.

"I'm as excited right now, as I have ever been in my life," said
Robertson. "I don't know if I"m going to fish professionally for a
living in the future, I think an awful lot of my farm."

The runner-up in the Pro Division was Eric Holt of Cape Fair,
Mo., with a weight of 8 pounds, 12 ounces. Holt earned $25,000 for
second place. Rounding out the "Final Five" were: (3) Steve Daniel,
Clewiston, Fla., 4 pounds, 5 ounces, $20,000; (4) Alvin Shaw, State
Road, N.C., 3 pounds, 15 ounces, $15,000; and Ricky Diehl, Huntsville,
Ala., 3 pounds, 13 ounces, $10,000.

Wal-Mart FLW Tour officials have announced that the 2000 tour
will award a record $4.4 million in cash during the seven-event
schedule, making it the richest bass series in history. Operation
Bass, Inc., has announced it will hold four $500,000 qualifying
tournaments, each featuring $100,000 for first place; two $1 million
events, the Wal-Mart Open and Forrest Wood Open, boasting $200,000
first place cash awards; and a $450,000 championship featuring the
largest first place cash award in a bass fishing series- $250,000.

The 2000 Wal-Mart FLW Tour schedule includes return visits to
four lakes from the 1999 schedule and three new sites. Host sites for
2000 include: Lake Okeechobee, Clewiston, Fla., January 26-29,
presented by Eagle; Pascagoula River, Biloxi, Miss., February 16-19;
Lake Murray, Lexington/Columbia, S.C., March 15-18; Beaver Lake,
Bentonville, Ark., April 12-15, presented by Wal-Mart; Mississippi
River, Memphis, Tenn., May 17-20, presented by Evinrude; Pickwick
Lake, (Forrest Wood Open) Florence, Ala., June 21-24, presented by
EverStart; and Red River, (Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship)
Shreveport-Bossier, La., September 13-16, presented by CITGO.

The Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship is scheduled to air Sunday,
Oct. 24, at 1 p.m. EST on ESPN.

The highest-finishing Ranger boat owner in the tournament will
qualify to enter the $3.6 million Ranger M1 Millennium tournament, the
richest bass event in history, with a potential $1 million first place
cash prize at stake. The Ranger owner who catches the largest bass in
each division over the course of the season will also qualify for the
Ranger Millennium tournament.

Five Pro Anglers Advance to Final Round
in Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship; First Place - $250,000

WAGONER, Okla.--(BW SportsWire)--Sept. 24, 1999--After three days
of competition in the Wal-Mart FLW Tour bass fishing championship, the
pro field has been cut to five anglers who will advance to the final
round of fishing Saturday, on Ft. Gibson Lake, to compete for the
largest first place cash prize in bass tournament fishing history --
$250,000.

Alvin Shaw of State Road, NC., scored the heaviest catch in the
second round with a five bass limit totaling 15 pounds, 13 ounces.
Second round weights do not carry over to the championship round.

"It was a lot tougher today," Shaw said. "My biggest fish was my
last one of the day. Tomorrow, I just have to concentrate and believe
I can catch them."

In Saturday's final round, the pro anglers will fish from
identical Evinrude-powered Ranger Comanche bass boats, and each
competitor will be paired with a camera crew from ESPN. The angler
catching the heaviest limit of bass for the day will be the Pro
Division winner in the culminating event of the 1999 Wal-Mart FLW Tour
and receive a record $250,000. The winner of the 1998 Wal-Mart FLW
Tour Championship was Davy Hite of Prosperity, SC., who boated a final
day winning weight of 10 pounds, 13 ounces. Hite also received
$250,000 for his win.

The five anglers making the cut include: Darrell Robertson, Jay,
Okla., Eric Holt, Cape Fair, Mo., Ricky Diehl, Huntsville, Ala., Steve
Daniel, Clewiston, Fla., and Alvin Shaw, State Road, NC.
In other fishing action, the co-angler (amateur) competition has
ended with Terry Chapman of Cornelius, NC., winning first place with a
catch of 7 pounds, 15 ounces. He received $25,000 for the win.
Chapman's pro partner for the day was Terry Bolton of Paducah, Ky.
They were fishing from the CITGO boat.

Kansan Cecil Kingsley finishes in 22nd place
Top 10 Anglers Advance to Second Round in
Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship; Anglers Eye $250,000 First Place Cash,
Sport's Largest

WAGONER, Okla.--(BW SportsWire)--Sept. 23, 1999--After two days
of preliminary competition amongst the world's best bass fishermen in
the Wal-Mart FLW Tour Bass Fishing World Championship, 10 professional
and 10 co-anglers (amateurs) have made the first round cut and will
advance to the second round of competition tomorrow on Ft Gibson Lake.
The event features the largest first place cash award in bass
tournament history -- $250,000.

The competitors from each division will compete Friday, for one
day, with the top five pros weighing in the heaviest one-day catch
advancing to the final round of competition on Saturday, where they
will compete for the Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship title.

Alvin Shaw of State Road, North Carolina, turned in the best
first round performance with a two-day total weight of 31 pounds, 6
ounces, to lead the professional field into the second round.

"My first bite didn't come until 11:30 a.m., then I had four in
about 30 minutes," Shaw said. "I wish I could have saved some of my
fish for tomorrow's round."

Co-angler competition will conclude at the end of day three with
the winner receiving $25,000. Mike McKinnis of Little Rock, Arkansas,
leads the co-angler field into Friday's round with the best two-day
total weight of 14 pounds, 15 ounces. Weights do not carry over to
Friday's round. Friday and Saturday's weigh-in will be held at the
Wagoner Wal-Mart Supercenter located at 410 South Dewey. Friday's
weigh-in begins at 5:00 p.m. The event is presented by Tulsa-based
CITGO.

Jim Moynagh of Hopkins, Minn., was awarded $5000 from Coca-Cola
for winning the Coca-Cola Big Bass award. Moynagh landed the biggest
bass during the 1999 tour. His bass weighed 10 pounds, 4 ounces. He
caught the bass during the Lake Lanier FLW Tour event.

Eric Holt of Cape Fair, Mo., landed a 6 pound, 13 ounce, bass on
day two to win the Coca-Cola Big Bass award for the championship. The
angler (pro or co-angler) who catches the big bass of each event
receives $1,000 from Coca-Cola.

Georgian, Tony Couch Takes First Day Lead
in Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship

WAGONER, Okla.--(BW SportsWire)--Sept. 22, 1999--Tony Couch of
Buckhead, Georgia, landed five bass weighing 16 pounds, 3 ounces in
the opening round of bass fishing action to take the lead in the
Wal-Mart FLW Tour World Bass Fishing Championship on Ft. Gibson Lake.
The prestigious event, presented by CITGO, is the culmination of the
$4 million, 1999 tour, the most lucrative in angling history, and
features the top 50 professional anglers from the seven-event series
competing for the largest cash prize in bass tournament fishing --
$250,000.

Couch is competing against 49 other anglers in the Pro Division
for one of 10 slots available in the second round of the unique
elimination bass tournament that also features the world's top 50
Co-Angler (amateur) anglers. Quinten Stacy of Bassett, Virginia, is
leading the Co-angler Division with five bass weighing 10 pounds, 6
ounces. Co-anglers are vying for a share of $65,000, with $25,000
going to the winner.

The top 10 Professional and 10 Co-Anglers, based on total weight
after two days of fishing, will advance to the competition's second
round on Friday. Daily weigh-ins will be held at the Wagoner Wal-Mart
Supercenter, located at 410 S. Dewey. Thursday's weigh-in will begin
at 3:30 p.m. CST. Friday's weigh-in begins at 5 p.m., with activities
on Saturday beginning at 11:30 a.m.

At the conclusion of Friday's fishing, the co-angler competition
is completed and the pro field is cut to the "Final Five." Each of the
finalists is paired with a camera crew from ESPN in the final round.
The Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship is scheduled to be televised on
ESPN, Sunday, October 24, 1999, at 1:00 p.m. EST. Saturday's final
round of competition will determine the winner of the Pro Division
based on total weight for that day. The final weigh-in will be
broadcast live via satellite to the electronics department of over
2600 Wal-Mart stores.

Mike Terry of Obion, Tenn., landed the big bass in the Pro
Division on day one with a bass weighing 6 pounds, 2 ounces. The
angler (pro or co-angler) who catches the big bass of the event,
determined at the conclusion of Thursday's action, will receive $1,000
from Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola will award $5,000 to the angler landing the
biggest bass during the 1999 tour. Jim Moynagh of Hopkins, Minnesota,
is the current leader with a 10 pound, 4 ounce bass.
