FISHING INFORMATION APLENTY PLANNED FOR JAN. 25 TOPEKA EVENT

Biologists will help anglers learn where the fish are and how to catch them

Jan. 17, 2007 - Want to know where the really big fish are? Have a burning question about your favorite lake? Perhaps you have a question about a fishing regulation that you don't understand.

For the answers to these and other questions, anglers in northeast Kansas should attend the Second Annual Fish Night at the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) Region 2 Office, 300 SW Wanamaker Rd., on Friday, Jan. 25. The event will run from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will feature presentations by fisheries biologists Richard Sanders, Dave Spalsbury, and Kirk Tjelmeland. Each will give an overview of area reservoir fisheries and local smaller lakes of interest. Chuck Bever (Tuttle Creek Reservoir), the Region 2 Fisheries Section supervisor, will also be on hand to answer questions.

Because of the recent discovery of zebra mussels at Perry Reservoir, the group will also discuss aquatic nuisance species.

To reach the meeting place, follow the sidewalk around back and enter the basement door. For more information, phone the KDWP Region 2 Office, 785-273-6740, or Tjelmeland at 785-246-4514.
